Welcome to Maryland Mensa! We welcome your suggestions on what you’d like to see on the website–please pass them to David Hubbard.

Delaware Beach Delight – This event is now over and members from Delaware Mensa and Maryland Mensa had a good time.

On May 30, 2026 we had an outdoor visit to Pickering Beach on Delaware Bay in hopes of viewing spawning horseshoe crabs and the red knots and other birds that feed on the crab eggs. We had an expert biologist as a guide. The horseshoe crabs were reported at high tides in the evening but were not there for us when we went to the morning high tide.

We had a great visit to the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge and a very nice outdoor lunch at a restaurant on a lake in Milford. We visited the DuPont Nature Center where we saw a slew of shore birds including red knots feasting on the sand. The Nature Center also had a museum featuring exhibits on tidal marshes.

We also had a good time playing board games afterwards.

There’s a good chance we will go back next year and visit during the evening high tide.
